A Journey of Renewal

Yaqoob Baloch’s family relied on farming and fishing in Essa Khan Rajero when the 2022 rains damaged homes across the village. Families moved to higher ground as floodwater disrupted daily life and livelihoods.
According to the HANDS reference story, recovery included permanent housing, washrooms, safer roads and a durable bridge. Water facilities and solar lighting addressed basic needs, while sewing equipment and livelihood support helped residents begin earning again.
Transport was another important part of recovery. Rickshaws helped children reach school and could also carry patients to medical care. A community hall provided a shared place for residents.
The account illustrates an integrated approach to rebuilding: shelter, water, education, transport and income opportunities work together to help a village regain stability.
