Wazir Ali’s family in Haroon Shaikh Goth faced displacement after the 2022 floods. Rebuilding their home was especially challenging because two of his children are blind and the family depends on irregular daily-wage work.

The HANDS reference account describes support for housing reconstruction, accessible pathways and community washrooms. Safer routes helped children move around with greater independence and reduced everyday obstacles.

Education remained a concern. Specialist schooling was too far away for the family to afford regular travel, while nearby schools could not meet the children’s needs. Their experience shows why recovery must consider accessibility and learning alongside shelter. A rebuilt house is an important beginning, but inclusion also depends on services that families can reach and use.
